WHY YOUR DREAM BLONDE TAKES TIME
LET’S TALK ABOUT THAT CUP OF COFFEE…
In our video, the dark coffee represents dark artificial colour built up in the hair.
It could be salon colour, box colour, permanent colour, semi-permanent colour, or simply years of colouring your hair darker.
Now imagine slowly adding water to that coffee.
It gradually becomes lighter — but it doesn’t suddenly go from dark to clear.
Hair can behave in a similar way when we try to take dark coloured hair blonde.
GOING FROM DARK TO BLONDE IS A PROCESS
When we lighten dark hair, we don’t simply go:
DARK → BLONDE
We usually work through the underlying pigments:
🤎 Brown
❤️ Red
🧡 Orange
💛 Yellow
🤍 Pale yellow → Blonde
The darker the starting point and the more artificial colour built up in the hair, the more complicated the journey can become.
IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE COLOUR YOU SEE
Even if your hair looks like one solid dark brown today, there may be layers of previous colour underneath.
Previous colour can affect:
• How quickly the hair lifts
• How evenly it lifts
• What unwanted tones appear
• How light we can safely take it
• How many sessions may be needed
And every head of hair is different.
WHY NOT JUST LIGHTEN IT MORE?
Because lighter isn’t always better if the hair can’t handle it.
Trying to force too much lift in one session can leave hair:
-Dry
-Weak
-Brittle
-Over-processed
-Prone to breakage
Our job isn’t simply to make your hair as light as possible.
Our job is to find the lightest, healthiest result your hair can safely achieve.
SOMETIMES IT TAKES MORE THAN ONE SESSION
Your first appointment may be about lifting some of the artificial pigment.
Another appointment may allow us to safely take the hair lighter.
Along the way, we may need to tone, treat and reassess the condition of the hair.
Previous colour, previous bleaching, heat damage, hair thickness and the overall condition of the hair can all affect the result.
THIS IS WHY CONSULTATIONS MATTER
Before taking dark coloured hair blonde, we need to consider:
-Your current colour
-Your colour history
-Previous lightening
-The condition of your hair
-Your desired blonde
-How much lift your hair can safely handle
Your hair’s history matters — even colour that was applied months or years ago can still affect today’s colour service.
THE GOAL ISN’T JUST BLONDE
At The Caveman Cut, we don’t want you leaving with a beautiful blonde today and damaged hair tomorrow.
We want beautiful blonde AND healthy hair.
So when we say:
“Your dream blonde may take more than one session,”
we aren’t trying to make the process longer.
We’re protecting your hair and giving it the best chance of getting to your desired result safely.
Dark to blonde is a journey — not a magic trick.
Dream blonde takes time.
Healthy blonde is worth the wait.
Trust the process.
The Caveman Cut — where beautiful hair comes first.
